The Movement Challenge

Hello, friends!  I have been feeling a little under the weather, physically, but I'm feeling much better now.   Lately I have really opened myself to appreciating the blessings in my life.  There is so much to be thankful for and I thought to myself: Why wait until Thanksgiving to show appreciation?  So I made this card for MoxieFab's Movement Challenge

If I understood correctly, movement starts with the focal image, in this case the oval with the trees.  From the trees, the eye (at least mine!) moves to the right, towards the leaves, which also makes me notice the embossed background.  The bottom leaf points to the sentiment and then the eye comes full circle to the trees.

Instead of coloring the trees, I sponged autumn colors on white card stock and then stamped the images.    Last, I cutout the images to paper-piece the trees and arrange the leaves beside the oval.

Materials

Card Stock: Gina K Designs (GKD) Pure Luxury White (120lb), Tomato Soup, Honey Mustard
Stamps: Trees from Sunkissed Autumn stamp set, leaves and sentiments from Fall Foliage stamp set
Ink: Memento Rich Cocoa, Morocco, Peanut Brittle, Bamboo Leaves
Accessories: Brown ribbon (1/8"), Bronze studs
Embossing Folder: Cuttlebug 'Bit of Paisley'
Dies: Spellbinders Large Ovals, Lacey Ovals

Thanks for stopping by!

Have a bright day!

Emerald Note

Happy Wednesday, crafty friends!  I used to say this usually on Fridays but every day is special so instead of only Happy Friday, Happy-Whatever-Day-of-the-Week!  He, he.

Today I am posting a card for Moxie Fab's Tuesday Trigger: Envy Becomes You.  After you see the picture you will understand:

That's a lovely image that brings the phrase "Green with Envy" to a whole new level!  I love the color combination, the green embroidery is gorgeous, and the shoes…Oh, the shoes!  Simple yet very elegant.  The bows make the shoe, in my opinion… So from the colors to the shoes, here is my take on the trigger:

Since I liked the embroidery so much I decided to ink up a Cuttlebug folder and do a letterpress background.  I usually incorporate stamping on my projects but for this one I thought 'less is more'.  Every now and then I like a plain note so I can use for any occasion so this card goes on the "anything" stash!

Another main element from the trigger are the bows on the shoes so I added a bow on the card.  The ribbon I had was narrower than I wanted so to add volume and 'presence' to the bow, I made it double.

Materials:
Card stock: Gina K Designs Pure Luxury Turquoise Sea, Jellybean green
Ink: Memento Pear Tart
Embossing Folder: Cuttlebug Stylized Flowers
Ribbon: Offrey (Green; sorry don't have the exact color name/code)

Owl Miss You

Hello, friends!  Today I'm posting a card for Stamp TV's Monday Challenge, hosted by the talented Melissa Cash.  This time it is a sketch challenge with a twist to use fall colors.  Here is the sketch:

Sometimes I have a hard time seeing beyond the sketch… So I decided I wanted to find a way, even if small, to change it up in some way.

Instead of using the long vertical rectangle, I decided to use three narrow strips of scrap paper, placed closed together to make one rectangular shape.  To add interest I cut the bottom in chevron style and replicated the same idea for the flag on the front panel.  I also added texture by embossing the background panel.  Little secret: I actually had it embossed from another project I never used it for!  What doesn't work for one project will work for another so save everything!

Materials List

Paper:  Gina K Designs (GKD) Pure Luxury 120 lb Ivory, Tomato Soup, Honey Mustard, Dark
Chocolate, and printed paper from Sunkissed Autumn kit

Stamps: Owl and sentiment from GKD Sunkissed Autumn kit

Ink: Memento Rich Cocoa, Morocco

Markers: Copic E31 & E35

Embossing Folder: Cuttlebug Floral Fantasy

Thank you so much for visiting!

Have a bright day!
