Hello Kitty!

Hi!  Hope you guys had a nice weekend!  I can't complain of mine!  Well, if only it was a little longer... LOL!  Yesterday we went to my little cousin's birthday party and it was a Hello Kitty party, bowling style!  What a great time!  I was surprised to see one cousin I had not seen in ages so it was nice to catch up and spend some time with my family.  My daughter had a blast but today has been a little under the weather; hope tomorrow she feels better...

Anyways, back to the post, I wanted to share the card I made for my little cousin:

Is that cute or what!  (If I may say so myself...)  The stamp is a digital image and I colored it with Copics. Just Friday I went to this awesome local stamping store I recently discovered (yes, I felt like a kid at the candy store! LOL) and it just so happened they had a class for those beginning with Copics!!!  What can I say; I hadn't had dinner yet, but I could not pass this opportunity so I stayed for the class, which was just beginning.  It was nice to get together with other card makers/crafters and get to know the basics.  So I had a lot of fun coloring Kitty and applying my newly learned techniques!

I stamped the heart on the little jumper (well, I decided to make it a jumper!) and made the polka dots on the sleeves.   I liked the idea of having Kitty kind of pop-out of the card so I made the circles where she lies a bit smaller than her, and then adhered with dimensional foam.

Not very often I get to make children-themed cards so it was fun to make one!  Hope you enjoyed it!

Have a bright day!

Mother's Day Cards - More!

Hi!  Where has the day gone?!?   Where has the week gone, for that matter!  LOL  I'm just peeking in to share some cards I've made for Mother's Day (I did not make them all today but just now got around posting them):

I really like the colors and simple elegance of it:

I wanted to make fun card and came out with this one which has a notebook vibe to it.
I call it "Mom Note"

This is another fun card, kind of springy and joyful looking:

This one I made using a sketch by the talented Melissa Cash:

This one I made for a challenge CASEing another talented designer: Melanie Muenchinger:

Well, that's it...  Keeping it short and sweet today!

Thanks for stopping by!

Colorful Butterfly

I'm on a roll today!  This time I'm posting for Moxie Fab's Tuesday Trigger.  Here's the trigger for this week's challenge:

I love the watercolor effect and the vibrant colors of the butterflies.  So that's my inspiration!  Here's my card:

The butterfly lies inside the card, kind of peeking out the circle on the front:

PS (In case you're wondering, the greeting says "Happy Mother's Day" in Spanish)

I colored the butterfly stamp with stamp markers using the colors on the trigger.  To help achieve a watercolor effect, I smudged the colored stamp on a water-saturated paper towel, and then stamped on  the paper.  I was not sure what to do on front of the card, but as soon as I saw this printed paper, I thought it would complement the butterfly nicely, so I went for it.

I cut out the circles on the front using Spellbinders dies.  The circle on the card base is one size smaller than the one on the printed paper.  To add interest, I colored the white section left in between the circles so that it serves as a frame for the butterfly.

List of Materials
Base: Gina K. Designs (GKD) PUre Luxury card stock
Layer: My Mind's Eye (Ooh-La-La Paper Stack)
Stamp: GKD Nature's Greetings Kit
Markers: American Crafts (Taffy, Grape, Apricot); Copic (RV04)
Rhinestones

Hope you enjoyed the visit!
