"Hello, everyone!  Today I realized my dad's birthday is on Saturday and I had not made a card or bought a present yet! And I have to mail it; yikes!  So I got him some shirts like the ones he likes, and when it came to the card, I thought My Craft Spot's Challenge 45 gave me the perfect opportunity to make something special for him.  : )

The challenge is to make a birthday shape card.  I had never made a shape card before but I liked the idea so I jumped in!  Actually I've been jumping in lately with new techniques - love it!  Anyway, since my dad likes plaid shirts, and that's actually what I got him for his birthday, I decided to make a shirt card!  Here's how it turned out:

(He likes blue and luckily I had this plaid pattern paper that is just perfect!)

I did not have a template for the shirt so I made my own.  The hardest part for me was the collar.  But then my sewing skills kicked in and I remembered what the collar pattern looks like when I'm cutting one out of fabric.  I had to add the pocket because my dad likes a pocket on his shirt.  I then thought the stitching would be a nice touch.  Lastly I added the buttons and stamped the greeting on the pocket (I thought it would be cute).

And that's my card for today!  I hope Dad likes it!  It really looks 'like' him!

Hope you enjoyed the visit.
Thanks for stopping by!"
Have a bright day!

Happy Sunday!  So glad to be home chilling out!  Still have a few things to do but mostly I want to just chill out...  So this morning I made a card for Moxie Fab's Tuesday Trigger: Home Sweet Home.  That's how I feel today!  Here's the trigger:

So crafty!  I was inspired by the dots and the sewing notions so I went for the 'crafty' feel that makes me feel so at home!  Here's my card:

It's hard to see the sentiment but it says:" I've been thinking about you today..."
Here's a close-up: (not that it helps much!  LOL)

And that's my little post for today!

Thanks for stopping by!"

"Hello!  I made this card for the Stamp TV Free for all Friday Challenge: Sew Sentimentally Embossed.  The challenge was to make a card with the sentiment as focal point, and include some kind of sewing and embossing.

I liked the idea of having different size squares of different patterned paper, and putting it together with stitching so this is what I came up with:

Since one of the pieces of paper I chose had buttons on it, I thought it would be a nice touch to add buttons to the card.  I ended up using only one, but it is strategically placed! LOL!  I did not want to over-crowd the card.

The embossing part of the challenge I almost forgot.  I had thought of embossing the sentiment but I had technical difficulties!  I did not have one of those anti-static pouches and I tried the fabric softener sheet as a substitute (I read that somewhere) but it did not work.  So it's plan B for the embossing!  I decided to emboss the oval with little dots, which actually complement the dots on one of the paper patterns I used.

To make the sentiment stand out I mounted the oval on foam squares.

Thanks for stopping by! "
