Brilliant!

Hello, there!  Hope you're having  a brilliant week!  And if not, I hope this card brightens you up a bit because you are brilliant no matter how your day is going!  Funny today my day started little blah but I was conscious enough to notice what was bothering me and say: You know what? I am not letting anything take away my possibilities of making this a great day!  Sometimes little nagging situations can eat up our enthusiasm if we let them.  Lets not!  Lets shine on!

So my experience today was so perfect for the card I am posting.  I am making this card for  the StampTV Monday Challenge .  The challenge is to pick what inspires you from the picture and create a project.  My inspiration came from the lamp and the colors green, orange, and blue.  Here is my card:

I just could not resist paper piecing the lamp shade or cutting out the panel edges to match the shape of the lamp shade!  You can't see it very well on this picture but I 'colored' the green parts of the vase with a Sakura clear pen for some shimmer.  To add dimension to the card and some interest to the focal image I cut an oval out of the front panel and then mounted it on dimensional squares.  Here is  a better view of the dimension of the card:

Materials list:
Card Stock: GKD Pure Luxury 120lb white, GKD Jelly Bean Green, Patterned paper from DCWV
                    Citrus Stack
Stamps: GKD Lighthearted Wishes by Tammy Mayberry
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Markers: Copic YR02, Y38, YG03
Others: Clear Sakura pen, Spellbinders large ovals for panel cut-out (I used the second largest)

Well, that is my card for today!    I will be back on Friday, August 17 with a post for Sean and Regina's Blog Hop!  I am so excited to participate on this hop with so many talented card designers!  In addition to inspiration for the fall season, there will also be blog candy!  So come back on Friday to find out what it's all about and join in all the fun!

On a final note, I will say this (not only for you but for myself): Remember you are brilliant no matter the circumstances.  No one or nothing can take your shine away unless you give them permission to...

Have a bright day!

Hello Kitty!

Hi!  Hope you guys had a nice weekend!  I can't complain of mine!  Well, if only it was a little longer... LOL!  Yesterday we went to my little cousin's birthday party and it was a Hello Kitty party, bowling style!  What a great time!  I was surprised to see one cousin I had not seen in ages so it was nice to catch up and spend some time with my family.  My daughter had a blast but today has been a little under the weather; hope tomorrow she feels better...

Anyways, back to the post, I wanted to share the card I made for my little cousin:

Is that cute or what!  (If I may say so myself...)  The stamp is a digital image and I colored it with Copics. Just Friday I went to this awesome local stamping store I recently discovered (yes, I felt like a kid at the candy store! LOL) and it just so happened they had a class for those beginning with Copics!!!  What can I say; I hadn't had dinner yet, but I could not pass this opportunity so I stayed for the class, which was just beginning.  It was nice to get together with other card makers/crafters and get to know the basics.  So I had a lot of fun coloring Kitty and applying my newly learned techniques!

I stamped the heart on the little jumper (well, I decided to make it a jumper!) and made the polka dots on the sleeves.   I liked the idea of having Kitty kind of pop-out of the card so I made the circles where she lies a bit smaller than her, and then adhered with dimensional foam.

Not very often I get to make children-themed cards so it was fun to make one!  Hope you enjoyed it!

Mother's Day Cards - More!

Hi!  Where has the day gone?!?   Where has the week gone, for that matter!  LOL  I'm just peeking in to share some cards I've made for Mother's Day (I did not make them all today but just now got around posting them):

I really like the colors and simple elegance of it:

I wanted to make fun card and came out with this one which has a notebook vibe to it.
I call it "Mom Note"

This is another fun card, kind of springy and joyful looking:

This one I made using a sketch by the talented Melissa Cash:

This one I made for a challenge CASEing another talented designer: Melanie Muenchinger:

Well, that's it...  Keeping it short and sweet today!

Thanks for stopping by!
