Winner from Blog Hop with Sean and Regina!

Happy Tuesday, everyone!  Today I am announcing the winner (of bonus blog candy on this particular blog) from Blog Hop with Sean and Regina.

And the winner of the $10 Gina K. Designs Gift Certificate is…..

 Angie!!!

Congratulations, Angie!  Please contact me at: aixa@cardjewels.com  to claim your prize.   I will send  the certificate via e-mail so I don't need your snail mail address.  : ) Remember you have one week from today to claim the prize!

Since I'm here, you know, I could not resist posting a card along with this announcement.  Not that it has anything to do with the announcement but I like the happy, festive feel of the card.  I actually made this for one of my daughter's friends who had a birthday over the summer.  I never got around posting it so I thought I'd squeeze it in here as we say good bye to summer!

Isn't that cute?  I think it's adorable for a little girl…  I usually don't do a lot of layers but I really like how this card turned out.

I love paper piecing so I paper pieced her dress and boots in design papers (DP) that coordinate with the background.  Design Papers are from My Mind's Eye 'Ooh La La' Paper Stack.  To add some interest I added a little border on the side from K&E Company 'Summer Bright' adhesive borders.  Love how well the colors on the border coordinate with the DP!

The little girl stamp is from Stampendous (CRP163) and the sentiment from Gina K Designs Birthday Greetings stamp set.  I colored the little girl with Copics and used a clear Sakura pen to add some sparkle on the hat.

Well, my crafty friends, that is my post for today!  Until the next one!

Have a bright day!

Underwater Birthday

Hello!  Long time no "see"!  I've been falling behind on my blogging, again!   I am done with the little details in my new craft room and I have to say I love it!  I still have one wall I want to dress up a little bit but I'm in no hurry.  The other 3 walls are done and the work space is done, so I'm good!  Stay tuned; I'll be posting before and after pics, along with some organization tips I used!

And back to the post, today I'm posting a card I made for Stamp TV's Monday Challenge (Hot and Cool), together with My Craft Spot's Challenge (Hot Summer Colors).  Being the two are kind of similar I made a card fit for both challenges.  The Hot and Cold challenge was to use 'hot' colors in a cool setting.  So I decided to create a birthday card using bright summery colors, in an underwater setting.  The card is for a cute little boy so the bright colors are right on- I made the theme an underwater birthday party.  Here's the card:

The DP from Gina K Designs is perfect for the ocean so I used that as the background, then added the stamped images.  I traced the sea horse with orange metallic pen, and then colored part of it with a clear sakura pen.  To make it more kid-friendly and festive, I cut out a triangle from the same DP I used for the flag banner and used it as a birthday hat!  I also use the sakura pen to delineate the shells (4 for his 4th birthday) and also on the castle.  I used copics to color the images.

Well, my friends, that's it for today.  Thank you for stopping by! I will see you soon with posts from my craft room!  Come back and visit!

Hello Kitty!

Hi!  Hope you guys had a nice weekend!  I can't complain of mine!  Well, if only it was a little longer... LOL!  Yesterday we went to my little cousin's birthday party and it was a Hello Kitty party, bowling style!  What a great time!  I was surprised to see one cousin I had not seen in ages so it was nice to catch up and spend some time with my family.  My daughter had a blast but today has been a little under the weather; hope tomorrow she feels better...

Anyways, back to the post, I wanted to share the card I made for my little cousin:

Is that cute or what!  (If I may say so myself...)  The stamp is a digital image and I colored it with Copics. Just Friday I went to this awesome local stamping store I recently discovered (yes, I felt like a kid at the candy store! LOL) and it just so happened they had a class for those beginning with Copics!!!  What can I say; I hadn't had dinner yet, but I could not pass this opportunity so I stayed for the class, which was just beginning.  It was nice to get together with other card makers/crafters and get to know the basics.  So I had a lot of fun coloring Kitty and applying my newly learned techniques!

I stamped the heart on the little jumper (well, I decided to make it a jumper!) and made the polka dots on the sleeves.   I liked the idea of having Kitty kind of pop-out of the card so I made the circles where she lies a bit smaller than her, and then adhered with dimensional foam.

Not very often I get to make children-themed cards so it was fun to make one!  Hope you enjoyed it!
