Back to School!

It's 'back to school' time, friends!  My daughter Arianna is sooo excited to go to first grade! She really loves learning and is looking forward to meeting her new teacher, making new friends, and learning new things!

Since she is so excited I thought I'd make a card for her for when school starts.  The Outlawz CAS challenge  gave me the perfect opportunity to make this card for her:

I created the 'writing pad' paper on the computer because I wanted a paper that was not as thin as the one on her writing notebook.  Then I cut it out and punched the top and corners as shown.  Rather than stamping I hand-wrote the 'Back to School'.  It's fun to actually handwrite on a writing pad!

The pencil cup image is from the Gina K Designs 'Falling for You' stamp set form last year.  By the way, have you seen the new one (Sun-kissed Autumn)?  Like Arianna would say: "Fab!".  Take a look! I will be featuring stamps from this kit on Sean and Regina's blog hop on August 17.  Stay tuned!

Back to the card: the paper is from DCWV 'Grade School' paper stack.  A fun thing I did was taking one of the sheets from the stack and cutting out parts of it to create my design.  Here is the original sheet of paper:

I intended to use it as my background but seemed a little too busy for this project so I opted for a more subtle pattern on the stack and then added cutouts.  I also used cutouts for the inside of the card:

That's my card for today, my crafty friends!  Hope you enjoyed the visit!

Have a bright day!
