Distressed Leaves - Sean and Regina's Blog Hop is Here!

Happy Friday and

WELCOME TO THE AUGUST BLOG HOP!

Thanks for playing along for the month of August!  The Blog Hop with Sean & Regina is featuring cards and sentiments celebrating the fall season this month! After a very hot and humid July, most of us are looking forward to a cool and colorful fall! When we think of fall, our minds swirl like we are surrounded by falling leaves and a crisp cool breeze in the air. Each host/hostess will have a card creation posted that is his/her representation of what fall means to them.

OUR BLOG HOP SPONSOR

Scrapbook Stamp Society is our blog hop sponsor!  The overall winner will receive digi’s from our sponsor.  Please visit them at http://scrapbookstampsociety.com/index.php?! Also some blog hop host/hostess designers will be offering blog candy as prizes on their blog sites, so please do not forget to visit his/her blog (and leave a comment) to be eligible for bonus blog hop prizes!

MY REPRESENTATION OF FALL

When I think of fall I think of leaves and their beautiful shades of green, orange, and yellow…  I love fall foliage.  Seeing all those falling leaves makes me think of how, just like trees, we  get rid of the old to make way for the new. It also makes me think of passing time, which nowadays seems to go by faster, and how we must treasure every moment and every person in our lives.  So my card reflects just that:

I wanted to create a card using distress so I stamped the leave with distress inks and then spritzed with water before stamping them.  I love the 'old' look  of the leaves.  Once stamped, I distressed some more over the leaves with 'Antique Linen' distress ink.  For added distressing, I ran the scissors' blade through the edge of the card stock to give it a little roughness.

For the rectangle on the side I decided to stamp green leaves and add shades of orange and brown with stamp markers.  I also added a hint of coloring with orange pencil. Once finished I distressed over the images with the Antique Linen.

All materials used for this card come from the Gina K Designs Fall release.  If you have not seen it, go take a look!  You're in for a treat!  I just love the stamps, fall colors and pattern papers on this kit.  And my element of surprise on the kit: the ribbon I used on this card.  I love the texture it brings and goes very well with the rugged look of the card. Since I wanted to use 4 studs as shown, I actually cut the ribbon in half to make it thinner and aligned them with the studs.

Materials List
Card stock: GKD Ivory 120 lb, GKD Tomato Soup
Stamps: GKD Fall Foliage stamp set
Ink: Tim Holtz Distress Inks (Antique Linen, Tea Dye, Peeled Paint), Memento Rich Cocoa
Water spritzer
